Real terror lurks in quiet darkness

Awesome Examples Of Tilt Shift Photography

Check out the few best examples of tilt shift photography. “Tilt-shift photography” refers to the use of camera movements on small- and medium-format cameras, and sometimes specifically refers to the use of tilt for selective focus, often for simulating a miniature scene. Sometimes the term is used when the shallow depth of field is simulated with digital post processing; the name may derive from the tilt-shift lens normally required when the effect is produced optically.

Top Ten Places to Live in the World

There are many factors that make the place we live the place we love to call home. Environment, weather, history, politics, economy, infrastructure, social climate, and entertainment all play a part. When choosing a place to live, your decision should be based on what issues are important to you. Finding the right combination of features is the key to loving where you live.

Healthcare and Tolerance – Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Meuse River, The Netherlands

Meuse River, The Netherlands
In 2009 the Netherlands was named as having the best healthcare system in Europe by the Euro Health Consumer Index. Six criterion examined were patient rights and information, e-health, waiting times for treatment, outcomes, range and reach of services provided and pharmaceuticals. The Netherlands is additionally praised for its minimal bureaucracy and patient empowerment.

The Netherlands, particularly Amsterdam, has become infamous for its tolerance of the taboo. The Dutch believe that people should make moral decisions with little interference from government. Marijuana is legal. Tattoo parlors, sex shops, and the red light district draw tourists. Hostels are packed during the peak summer season.
As far as culture, there are famous museums where you can see work by Van Gogh, Vermeer, and Rembrandt. One can learn the story of Anne Frank, relax in beautiful parks and ride a bike almost anywhere. According to Claudio.Ar, “It is said that Amsterdam has more canals than Venice, more cafes than Vienna and more bridges than Paris. The tours let you discover them and other secrets of the city.”

Paper Cameras For Photograph Purists

Paper Cameras | If you’ve ever uttered the phrase “we can always photoshop it later”, it’s time for you to go back to basics.  Long before photography was about megapixels and photo editing, it was about little more than film and light.  To show you how simple (and beautiful) photography can be, we’ve compiled a list of 10 paper cameras that reflect the purity of photography.  If you could use a bit of photographic inspiration, read on– and be prepared to interact.  More than half of these cameras can be downloaded and printed out on your own printer.  In the time it takes you to read this article, you can add a brand new camera to your collection without paying a dime.

The Peyote Paper Camera by Corbis Readymech

Corbis Readymech is amongst the most prolific and high quality producer of free, printable paper cameras.  The “Peyote” paper camera is one of the brand’s visually abstract cameras that still produce lush, vibrant pinhole photographs.  Print out the free plans, cut and paste the camera together and follow the photography directions on the rear.  When you open the shutter, you’ll let light into the camera box that will expose the film in the back (which, of course, you’ll need to insert).  The end result yields colorful, low-fidelity photographs with a dreamy nature.  Think lomo, but with paper instead.  [download at readymech]

StoneFish - Dangerous Fish

Deadliest Fish in the World

The Stone Fish is a mottled brown-greenish in colour (which gives them camouflage) with many venomous spines along its back.It usually found in Australia.

The stonefish lives primarily above the tropic of Capricorn. Its main habitat is on coral reefs, near and about rocks, or can be found dormant in the mud or sand.
It feeds on small fish and shrimps.

It is actually a clay model of a fish with 13 wooden dorsal spines. The dancer experiences terrible agony, writhing on the ground. The whole ritual ends sadly with a death song. The fish involved in the dance is the stonefish, also a member of the scorpionfish family. It is believed to be the deadliest fish in the world.

Man Who Traveled the World for Free using only Twitter

Once the identity of my alter-ego, the Twitchhiker, is revealed, the first question I am asked is always the same: 'Where did you get the idea from?'
I wish I had some hilarious explanation but the truth is duller than Doncaster on a wet Tuesday. Some people are inspired by faith, others by great works of art.
For me, it was the bread aisle of Tesco in Gateshead. It was a Saturday lunchtime in January last year and my route to the fresh baguettes was blocked by a clatter of abandoned trolleys, their owners deep in conversation about Cheryl Cole or their recent holidays.

They were oblivious to other customers attempting to squeeze past. I began daydreaming, wishing I was somewhere else, somewhere hot with azure skies.

World’s Top 10 Longest Single Span Bridges

1. Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge, Japan – 1,991 m

The Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge in Japan heads the list of the top 10 longest single spand bridges in the world. Europe’s longest singel span bridge is the Great Belt Bridge in Denmark, although current plans for a bridge between mainland Italy and Sicily across the Messina straights would surpass it if given the go ahead. The Tsing Ma (Hong Kong to China), has the longest span for a bridge with both road and train traffic.

30 Creative and Unusual Wine Label Designs

Inkwell Wine’s Rorschach-Inspired Wine Bottles

inkwell-wine_1
Just as every wine may effect each palette differently, the Rorschach inkblot test’s meaning is different to each viewer. With this bottle design, Inkwell Wine asks, “what do you see?” The crew at /M/A/S/H/ was hired to rejuvenate Inkwell’s label design and brand identity, and this bottle was precisely what the wine maker needed. If you can find a bottle of Inkwell’s 2007 Shiraz, it wears this label proudly. Even after you drink it, we recommend holding on to this bottle for it’s simple, compelling label design. [link]

Baby in China Born with Second Face

Children born with facial deformities are always a sad tale. Whether or not it’s something correctable, such as a cleft palate, or something you just have to live with, like Moebius syndrome, it’s always gut-wrenching that a poor child has to suffer such a condition. One such example is Kangkang, a 14-month old born with a transverse facial cleft. What does this mean?

The Яight Stuff

With the space shuttle getting near to retirement the International Space Station will have to rely on the Russians for new crew members and provisions. A Soyuz spacecraft will be launched towards the ISS. One of the passengers will be Guy Laliberté, the founder of Cirque du Soleil. The rocket was brought to the launchpad yesterday. Contrary to NASA the Russians don't use a specially designed crawler for this, but good old steam power.

Natural Beauty of Vietnam

Once a place most westerns held with much hate in their hearts, Vietnam has over the last few decades turned into a top destination spot in south east Asia.  There is so much to love about Vietnam, including the food and people, but the stunning natural beauty of the country is one that must be experienced in person.  Probably most well known for rice patties, Vietnam also has some of the most stunning beaches in the world.  The waterways are a main form of transportation from village to village once you get out of the larger cities are serene, peaceful and something that must be experienced first hand.
